What golfers love

Golfers tell us that the golf course is a great value, being a solid semi-short 9-hole course right on the lake. It's easy to get to and more convenient than heading to the suburbs. Despite being in the Midwest in March, the course is in great shape with quicker greens. Golfers appreciate the efforts made to push along slower groups and maintain a good pace of play. The longest round they've seen in the last three years is 2 hours and 15 minutes. In the winter, the course becomes a gem. While it can be packed and slow during the summertime, golfers appreciate that it remains open nearly all year round. Playing a peaceful 9 holes here in the winter, despite the cold and slower greens, is a unique experience. The course itself is beautiful, right off the lake, and showcases all that Chicago has to offer visually. The conditions of the course are consistently great, with the Friday conditions being the best some golfers have ever seen. The staff is friendly and the value for the money is excellent, even though the pace of play is typically slower than ideal for a municipal course. Playing this course in the heart of the city, with Lake Michigan to the east and the city skyline to the west, is a memorable experience. The thick grass ensures that the ball doesn't roll much, unlike the dead grass in Arizona. Overall, golfers had a good time and would definitely play again. Golfers suggest that rangers should be present to check on the pace of play throughout the entire course. The facility quality is good, with some areas being excellent. The course difficulty ranges from moderate to somewhat challenging, providing a suitable challenge for all skill levels.

Good to know

Golfers tell us that there are a few areas where the golf course could use some improvement. One thing that stood out was the pace of play, with multiple reviewers mentioning the need for rangers to help manage slower groups on the course. Additionally, while the overall course conditions were good, some golfers noted that the greens were on the slower side and the grass was a bit thick, making it harder for the ball to roll smoothly. Another area that could be improved is the booking process for tee times. Some golfers mentioned needing to book 2 tee times back to back or within a short timeframe in order to play a full 18 holes. Lastly, although the staff quality and friendliness generally received positive reviews, there were a few instances where golfers mentioned encountering less than stellar staff performance. Overall, these are areas that golfers have highlighted as needing some attention in order to enhance their experience at the course.
