About Douglas Community Club & Golf Course
Douglas Community Club & Golf Course is a historic golf course that was established in 1928 by a group of ten businessmen who each contributed $100 towards the purchase of land. Initially, the course featured nine holes with prairie fairways and sand greens. In 1930, a log structure was built on the premises with the assistance of the W.P.A. Over the years, various enhancements were made to the course, including the planting of grass fairways, irrigation, and the addition of 82 trees in 1965.
In 1972, Jack Morton generously donated an additional 55 acres of land, which facilitated the creation of an additional nine holes. These new holes were completed in 1977, expanding the course and offering golfers even more opportunities to enjoy their game. Continuous improvements have been made to the facilities over time, and in 2002, the original irrigation system was replaced to ensure optimal course conditions. Today, the Douglas Community Club & Golf Course spans across a total of 142.9 acres, providing golfers with an expansive and well-maintained playing environment.
